The facilities at Black Forest Farm, LLC usually create quite a first impression.  Although this is a newer, developing facility, it is more than adequate for the average boarder or guest.

The barn is a new Morton building that is roughly 144' x 72'.  It contains 21 double sized stalls of approximate dimensions of 10' x 20' to 12' x 24'.  They are wonderful for foaling!  In fact, the stalls are so nice, we call them suites instead of stalls.  Some have dutch doors leading to future private paddocks.  Exterior suites have windows for ventilation and large roof fans help cool the barn in the summer.  Swing out feeders make feeding easy and safe for horses and people.

A new Cover All building serves as a shelter and indoor arena.  It is approximately 60' x 60'.  The Cover All style building brings in daylight  giving the inside a light, airy feeling.  It gives the rider the experience of bringing the outdoors in and creates a much more pleasant environment than conventional arenas.

A new outdoor riding arena was constructed in 2003.  It is approximately 90' x 120' and is constructed out of Priefert panels.  We also use this area as a safe turnout for stallions as these panels are extra strong and tall.  It's also a nice area for turn out for other horses that we want to keep separate from the rest of the herd and keep an eye on, such as mares about to foal or visiting horses.

There is another outdoor work area that also serves as a small pasture.  It's great in the summer because there's always a breeze and a nice view.

There are several pastures of various sizes over the farm's 54 acres.  Trails meander throughout the wooded part of the farm.  There are excellent opportunities for simple enjoyment or to challenge horse and rider with steeper slopes.

Pastures have automatic waterers to assure that all horses have an adequate source of water.  Waterers are heated in the winter to encourage horses to maintain their usual consumption.  This helps to prevent colic due to lowered water consumption that often occurs when horses have to drink very cold water.

Pastures are rotated in the summer.  There are small pastures or paddocks for new or visiting horses or if the owner desires the horse to be separate from the herd.  Outside horses have round bales in the winter as a constant source of food and warmth.

Black Forest Farm, LLC is nestled in the hills and woodlands of Blue Mounds.  The picturesque enchantment of the landscape, the rustic buildings and colorful horses surround one with the beauty of nature in any season.

Boarding Prices

Stall board ranges from $215-$305 per month per horse (mare and foal count as one horse) depending on the size of the stall.  It includes two flakes of hay twice daily or the equivalent in pasture or round bales if the horse is turned out.  Rough board is $175 and includes pasture/round bales and water only.

For winter board only (November -March)  add $40 per month to all board prices due to the extra costs involved in the boarded horse consuming only purchased hay.  Board for more long term boarders has these costs already figured in.  Long term boarders' rates remain the same during winter.

Optional services include Strategy brand pelleted feed, grooming, blanketing, wrapping, medications, holding fees for farrier or veterinarian, worming and vaccinations, extra bedding and foal watch.

Horse Motel

Short-term or Horse Motel board is $10 per horse per day for pasture care and $20 per horse per day for stall care.  Electric or water hook-ups are $5 per unit per day.

For Horse Motel visitors, there are many local motels or there is a two-bedroom loft with a private bathroom, sitting area and satellite TV for $65 per night.  Meals are optional and must be requested prior to booking your reservation.  Pets are allowed under certain circumstances.  Pet sitting is available while owners visit local attractions.

**For the health and safety of all horses, horse owners must provide proof of negative Coggins before the horse is unloaded.  Horses must be current on vaccinations.  A note, proof of vaccination or health certificate from a veterinarian must accompany each horse.

Black Forest Farm, LLC uses the services of Country View Veterinary Service in Oregon, Wisconsin and follows the care, maintenance and management practices recommended by their excellent team of veterinarians.
