Black Forest Farm, LLC is nestled in the hills and woodlands of Blue Mounds.  The picturesque enchantment of the landscape, the rustic buildings and colorful horses surround one with the beauty of nature in any season.

Your host and owner of Black Forest Farm, LLC is Marlene Cordes.  When she's not managing the farm and working with horses, Marlene teaches ballroom dance at the farm and in Madison, WI.  Check her web site as Dance Easy to learn more.  In working with horses, she already works with students with two left feet.  Don't have to worry about stepping on her feet!

High Point Steak House -- Ridgeway, good food, casual to light dressy dining.  A great, steak, potatoes, salad bar kind of place that serves other food as well and has an adjacent bar.

Fast Food and Family Sit Down Chain Restaurants: 
Mount Horeb has McDonald's, Culvers (soon), Subway, Taco Bell and Pizza Pit.

There is also a Shell station on Hwy 18 as you come into town with diesel pumps and easy turn around.  Between Dodgeville and Barneveld is the 18/151 Express.  It has diesel fuel, easy turn arounds and a small restaurant with a wide variety of entrees and very reasonable prices.
Barneveld's Eagle Mart has a Subway and many other hot and cold food items in the convenience store.  Easy access off Hwys. 18/151.  Diesel fuel and easy turn arounds for trailers. It has an ATM, Western Union service, gifts and more.  A good stop for travelers and less than 10 minutes from the farm.

Madison is the state capitol of Wisconsin and home of the University of Wisconsin -- Madison, Madison Area Technical College, Edgewood College and other smaller educational institutions.  There are lots of restaurants of all kinds, 4 lakes, cultural events, sporting events, entertainment, lodging and much more.  During the summer, visit the Farmer's Market on the Capitol Square which draws thousands of people weekly.  Madison is one of the most desirable places to live in the country.  It's known for its beauty, recreation and leisure opportunities, cultural diversity and fine educational and occupational opportunities.

Check out other interesting attractions statewide or find the local chamber of commerce of interest to you.
Trails --State Parks with riding and/or camp sites for you and your horse.  Governor Dodge is the closest one to the farm.  Other ones would be the 400 State Trail and Wildcat Mountain.

County Parks with riding include Donald Park, Token Creek and Walking Iron County parks.

There are many other trails and organized trail rides.  In Dane County where Black Forest Farm, LLC is located there is the:
             Blackhawk unit between Sauk City and Mazomanie;
             McCarthy Youth and Conservation Park east of Madison.
