Tippy's Classy Babe (Tippy)
Description 1981 Mare 15.1 hands
Tippy is one of the older horses on the farm with a long history of producing beautiful foals with Magic. She generally has a black filly, although as you can see in Cay and Porsche, not always. Her foals have always been tall. Their adult height is between 15.1 and almost 15.3. They seem to be excellent hunter jumper prospects, as I have witnessed two of them easily clear a four foot fence running up hill at age two. Her foals are very sweet and affectionate.
Tippy is a career broodmare. This year would have been her 15th foal in 24
years. This year she had a breech delivery and we lost the foal. Tippy
initially appeared to be OK, but started to decline later in the day. The
vet came back a second time. Fortunately she was here when Tippy went into
shock. We all thought we were going to lose her. The vet stablilized her
and we started treatment for her recovery. After a night of IV's and two
days of walking her every two hours to combat the nerve damage that had
occurred, we had our Tippy back. She can lay her ears flatter than any
horse I've ever seen and she curls her nostrils when she really means
business. In a few days she was out with a few horses and showing that
Tippy attitude at the hay pile. She has made a full recovery. I would have
been so sad if her life ended from complications of trying to deliver her
last foal. Tippy is a tough girl and otherwise healthy. I would like to
place her in a lease for board arrangement. She would make a good grandma
horse, a companion horse in a small herd or with a single horse or would be
a mature influence around young horses. Her life has been bringing up
horses. I'm not sure if she is trained to ride or not. She has always been
pregnant, so we never tried it. When she gets better, we will find out.
In a lease for
board arrangement, someone would lease her and would not have to pay any
money up front. They would simply have use of her in exchange for board and
taking good care of her. That means feeding and housing her, making sure
she got her vaccinations and wormer, making sure her feet were trimmed and
all other veterinary expenses. Should it eventually not work out for any
reason, I retain papers, and she comes back to me. This is an excellent way
to have a horse for much less money. It also protects the horse from an
unintentional, uncertain fate as she gets older and less marketable because
of her age.
