Description    2001 Mare       15.2 hands

AQHA    NFQHA 92%      Homozygous for black gene

This is another horse that  everyone wants.  There have been several offers already that if I ever sell her, they want to know.  Big, black, very quiet, super conformation, very intelligent and beautiful face and eyes.  In additon, she's double registered and homozygous for black according to tests from UC Davis.  She is another good all around horse used for riding, lessons, driving, breeding and more.

One little story about Ebony that really sold her to me was the day she got caught up in a fence when she was about 2 years old.  All her friends had come into eat.  Noticing a horse was missing, we went to the pasture to look and saw her next to a barbless wire fence.  Upon closer inspection, she was not beside the fence, she was in it.  The bottom wire was around her pastern.  The next wire up was on her hip on the other side.  We took the clips off the wires and lowered them to the ground.  Many horses would flail or struggle.  She just patiently stood there the whole time with maybe a head toss.  Once freed, she stepped out without causing injury to herself or to those trying to help her.  What a good head that girl has on her!  I was so impressed with her behavior.  This could have turned out so differently and possibly tragically.  She was probably trying to kick at someone through the fence.  By the ground it looked like she had been there for hours.  Another reason I like to feed twice a day.  One can check the horses more often and in more depth than a glance in the pasture.  In this case we all looked out into the pasture, saw her and didn't realize she was in trouble.  It was a sobering lesson for all of us that fortunately had a happy ending.

We are looking for great things from Ebony for many years to come.  She's an awesome horse!
